The River Sticks is the name used for co-op CILAX teams. The purpose is to help the various CILAX leagues provide additional playing opportunities as a group, to field teams for all players outside of the regular season, or provide alternate growth opportunities during season. The summer RiverSticks is open to anyone who has played on a CILAX team, and hopes to add other opportunities as the number of players in the Central Illinois area grows.
The Washington, Dunlap and Bloomington leagues chose these tournaments for the River Sticks based on dates available for a variety of competitive offerings, with at least one tournament at all levels. These dates also allow the 12U/14U boys to participate in the Titans summer league without conflict of tournament dates.
Your coach will be one of the CILAX team coaches from any of the leagues, depending on who would like to volunteer to lead the group. Because we are having coaches volunteer to lead the team, we can keep the costs to the minimum to cover the practice field rental, the coach's travel cost, and the tournament entry fee. We will know who the coach will be closer to the practice week. When coaches are known, they will be listed under the ticket description.
Registrations are taken in the order they are received, and anyone from a CILAX team can join. Although all the leagues want to promote competitive play, summer is a difficult time to guarantee player numbers. Therefore, the opportunity is open to anyone who is available to play. Also, since every team needs a goalie, any goalie who played on a league will not pay a registration fee, and only needs a River Sticks jersey. A maximum of 2 goalies would be needed for a team.
Practices will take place at one of the club fields, depending on availability. Times will be similar to regular season practices (early evening). We will not know the exact days until closer to the tournament, but please leave the week before the event fairly free for 2-3 evening practices.
